Üniversitelerin neoliberal dönüşümü: Türkiye örneği

Eğitim kurumu, gerek toplumsal hayattaki işlevleri gerekse toplumsal değişmelerde oynadığı kritik rol açısından çok önemli bir konudur. Tarihsel bir süreç içerisinde hem toplumsal değişimlerden etkilenen hem de toplumsal değişimlere yön veren eğitim farklı yaklaşımlar çerçevesinde ele alınmaktadır. Çalışmada eğitim kavramı ve özelinde de üniversitelerin neoliberal dönüşüm kapsamında geçirdiği değişim Türkiye örneği çerçevesinde ele alınmaktadır. Buna göre neoliberal dönüşüm kapsamında üniversitelerin, bilginin metalaşması, ticarileştirme-sermayeleştirme-özelleştirme ve üniversitelerin metalaştırılması boyutları ile ele alınmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye’de üniversitelerin piyasa yönelimi özellikle vakıf üniversiteleri ve finansman yoluyla sağlanmaktadır. Bu durum Türkiye’deki üniversiteleri toplum yararına bilgi üretme ve kamu yararına eğitim verme işlevinden uzaklaştırarak piyasa içerine çekilen ticarethanelere dönüştürmektedir.AbstractThe institution of education has a great significance both in terms of its functions in social life and the critical role it plays in social changes. As an institution both affected by social changes and directs them within a historical process, education has been analyzed in the framework of different approaches. This study, examines concept of education in general and the changes which education has been undergoing within neo-liberal transformation in particular, in the light of example of Turkey. In that sense, within the context of neo-liberal transformation, universities are analyzed in respect to commodification of information, commercialization-capitalization-privatization and commodification of universities. In conclusion, the market orientation of universities in Turkey has been provided through especially by foundation universities and financing. This factor removes universities in Turkey out of its functions of producing information for the benefit of society and providing education for public interest and transforms universities into mercantile enterprises by locating them in market.
